Ain't fireworks fun?!? Posted by Picasa

For some reason many of the communities here in the state of Utah can't seem to figure out exactly when the Fourth of July is. Last year the Fourth fell on a Sunday, and with most folks in Utah being rather religious, I can understand celebrating it a day early, but this year it fell on a Monday. Yes the Fourth of July was on Monday, but for some reason most communities here held their parades and fireworks displays on Saturday July 2, with little going on on the Fourth. Something is wrong with that. There was no valid reason for not celebrating the Fourth on the Fourth. Lehi City had their act together however, and all of these shots were made on the Fourth of July.

Fireworks at Thanksgiving Point 4 Posted by Picasa

Well yesterday was Independence Day, so today brings the mandatory fireworks photos. This fireworks display was shot off at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. I watched the display with various family members and thousands of flying bugs from across an alfalfa field.

Detail of the ore shoot in Ophir Canyon. Posted by Picasa

As mentioned in the previous post, I didn't get to shoot all I wanted to while in Ophir, so expect more photos from the area in the coming weeks.

Ophir is a near ghost town in Ophir Canyon. It's something straight out of the old west. You'd still expect to see the sheriff ride into town on a horse. I was worried about running into rattlesnakes while wondering around shooting the old mining equipment still there. I didn't have enough time to shoot all that I wanted, as I had one of the twins with me, and he wasn't in the mood to go photoing.
